Since 2013, I have helped hundreds of older adults successfully move to senior living communities. I have "been there" when caring for my own parents. I know that many seniors have lived in their homes for decades which can make the thought of moving very challenging. I understand these challenges and can offer solutions with respect, empathy and encouragement. I work closely with the senior and their family to "problem-solve" and focus on the clients lifestyle, health needs, location and budget in helping my clients find the perfect senior community, saving my clients and their families time and money.
Please reach us at myseniorlivingcoach@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
My goal is to build a relationship with the senior and their family ultimately leading to an enhanced quality of life for my senior client(s) and their families. I will ask about the current challenges, health needs, budget, lifestyle & location preferences. Our initial meeting may be via phone, zoom, or personal one on one meeting, depending on the clients preference.
There are many senior living options, so many that it can be overwhelming. Coach knows all the senior living options and the senior communities, and by getting to know the senior, will provide personalized options, accompany you on tours, ask questions that most families don't think to ask, ultimately save the senior and their family a great deal of time and money. I do the homework so you don't have to!
If the senior requires any care, for example in assisted living, I work closely with the seniors physician to get a standard "Physician's Report" also known as a 602A form. This is the starting point, a "roadmap" for determining care needs and is a required form for any licensed Assisted Living or Board & Care. A "History of Present Illness" form may also be used to evaluate the clients needs.
Absolutely! Based on your health needs, wants, desires, budget & location preferences, I will create a tour plan and itinerary, and I will offer objective input and educate you on why I chose a particular community, ask questions on your behalf that many seniors and their families don't ask (ex: what happens if I need a higher level of care in the future?). I will make the best use of your valuable time.
Coach has "vetted," checked current licensing, and in most cases, has previously visited the communities I will show you or your loved one. I have spent time getting to know you and your situation.
The nationwide company does not do personalized tours or has done the legwork that Coach has done. Instead, they give you lists of communities they are contracted with. There are many more they are not contracted with. It's highly unlikely the rep has ever seen the communities that are being referred.
When you contact the large national online company, you will also have to deal with multiple sales & marketing teams from various communities contacting you, which is very stressful. My Senior Living Coach is your one stop point of contact and handles all calls from the senior communities so you don't have to deal with it. Coach wants to ensure a smooth new chapter and relive the senior and their families of the stress.
Absolutely! I work closely with Senior Real Estate Specialists who are the most qualified and experienced to handle the sale or rental of your longtime home. I also recommend Seniors Move specialists. I will also handle the coordination between the mover and the senior community and ensure your new apartment home is "move in ready."
Most definitely! In my prior career, I have nearly 30 years of real estate experience and can consult and answer questions about the downsizing and home selling process before you ever talk to a Realtor or mover. It's always beneficial for all involved when I can meet you in your home and get a better understanding of your lifestyle and any downsizing challenges.
I make sure your new community is ready, and waiting, your new apartment is clean and move in ready and set up properly. I have consulted with the care team and they are excited and ready to welcome you to your new home! These details are especially important if the planned move is on a weekend. If possible, I am there to also welcome you to your new home on moving day.
Yes
I specialize in the Tri-Valley East Bay and can also go beyond those areas. such as Contra Costa & Marin Counties
There are selected senior communities that offer special reduced rent options to income qualified seniors. I am very familiar with local reduced rent programs that can you or your loved one thousands of dollars a month, even if you have a home to sell.
I am paid directly by the senior community you move to.
I work with licensed Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Board & Care, Skilled Nursing communities. I also work with hospital discharge planners and social workers.
I have worked closely with many hospice organizations during my senior living career. I have personal experience as well, both my parents had been on hospice, and I have been a trained hospice patient care volunteer.
Absolutely! I work with Independent Living communities and independent Senior Apartments and can present you with those options.
Independent Living communities offer amenities such as meals, housekeeping, transportation, utilities, activities, a "package." Senior Apartments don't generally offer those "packaged" amenities and will be less expensive as a result.
Most definitely! It's my passion to educate seniors on senior living options, answer their questions, and be the go-to resource for them, and for their families. My "Senior Living 101" PowerPoint goes over all the most common questions, and I am delighted to speak to any sized group or organization, before there is a need! You can call me to discuss or click "Community Presentation" at the bottom of the website.
Assisted Living & Memory Care services will offer bathing, dressing, grooming, and customized health services based on a health assessment, at extra charge
Housekeeping is typically part of the "package" at most senior communities, cleaning of the apartment along with linens. Some communities charge extra for personal laundry service
Licensed caregivers help seniors to remember to take their medications on time, distributing and keeping track of medications in the manner as prescribed by their doctor as well as assisting with other "Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) based on health assessment
Most senior communities offer a meal plan consisting of 2-3 meals per day. If you have special dietary needs, lets discuss to make sure the community can provide you with your preferred food option.
My Senior Living Coach advises his clients on transportation options (if needed) at the different senior communities.
Important component to the senior living experience is to maintain and enhance a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle by socialization, and new friendships
I'd love to get to know you better. We can meet by phone or zoom, at your home, or for coffee or tea!
